Bully Camp Gas Storage (BCGS) is a planned 15 Bcf underground natural gas salt dome storage facility located on the Bully Camp Salt Dome in Lafourche Parish, approximately 35 miles southwest of New Orleans. The facility is planned to be in-service by late 2013.
BCGS is ideally situated to provide high-turn storage service near the center of the Gulf Coast Supply Region. As planned, BCGS will interconnect with Texas Eastern Transmission (TETCO), Gulf South Pipeline, Bridgeline Holding Pipeline, and the Discovery Larose gas processing plant outlet. BCGS indirect interconnects include Transco (through TETCO), Columbia Gulf Transmission and Tennessee Gas Pipeline. All indirect pipelines are accessed through the Discovery interconnect. BCGS can access markets in the Northeast, and the Midwestern states as well as Louisiana intrastate customers.
BCGS will offer firm and interruptible natural gas storage services as well as interruptible hub services, including parking, loaning, balancing, imbalance trading and wheeling services.
When constructed, the 6-turn facility will utilize two caverns for a total of 15 Bcf of working gas storage capacity and will be capable of delivering a maximum of 1.2 Bcf/d. BCGS will be applying for FERC certification as a market-rate based facility in the fourth quarter of 2009.
